About Marquez Callaway

Marquez Callaway, born March 27, 1998, in Warner Robins, Georgia, is a professional American football wide receiver known for his college stardom at the University of Tennessee and journeyman NFL career.[1][3][4] A four-star recruit from Warner Robins High School, where he excelled in football and basketball, Callaway committed to Tennessee in 2016 despite basketball offers.[3] At Tennessee, he emerged as one of the Volunteers' most prolific receivers and punt returners. As a true freshman in 2016, he debuted with a 62-yard punt return touchdown against Tennessee Tech.[1] His sophomore year (2017) saw him lead the team with five touchdown receptions, 24 catches, and 406 yards.[1] Callaway's career totals included 92 receptions for 1,646 yards and 13 touchdowns (16th in UT history for yards), plus three punt return touchdowns (second all-time) and a 13.6-yard punt return average (fourth in school history).[1] He competed in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl before declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft.[1][3] Undrafted, Callaway signed with the New Orleans Saints as a free agent in 2020.[3][5] His breakout 2021 season featured 46 receptions for 698 yards and six touchdowns across 17 games, leading Saints wideouts in target and air yards share amid injuries.[2][3][5] He appeared in 47 career games (17 starts) through 2023, mostly with New Orleans (2020-22), but saw limited snaps thereafter.[6][7] Since 2023, Callaway has bounced between teams: released by the Pittsburgh Steelers post-training camp, he rejoined New Orleans briefly before signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad in October 2024, playing four offensive snaps in two games.[2] Tampa released him after drafting new receivers.[2] He signed with the San Francisco 49ers, then the Las Vegas Raiders on August 11, 2025, catching one pass for eight yards before his release on Monday (prior to February 10, 2026).[2][6][7] Currently a free agent, the 6'2", 204-pound veteran (fourth-year experience as of 2025) remains active, seeking depth roles.[2][4][7]
